The S-5 clamps and brackets are extraordinarily versatile and allow you to attach almost anything to standing seam, exposed-fasteners and corrugated roof profiles. S-5!® clamps attach to the panel seam by the tightening of two “bullet-nosed” stainless steel setscrews against the seam material. (This is usually done with an industrial grade screwgun.) The round point setscrews compress the seam material against the opposite wall of the clamp. They will “dimple” the seam material, but will not penetrate it. Threaded holes in the clamp (stainless hardware is provided) enable the easy attachment of various ancillary items to the clamps.
There are clamp designs for most roof types. United Electric can help with the selection of your clamp, please contact us with photos of your roof profile and any dimension you have. We ill find the best clamps and give you a drawing of the clamp to verify the fit.
S-5 clamps are typically available in two different sizes. The full size clamp on the left uses two set screws and provides an M10 bolt (approx equal to 3/8″ bolt) on top. The Mini clamp on the right uses one set screw and provides an M8 bolt (approx equal to 5/16″ bolt) on top.
S-5 also offers PV mounting kits to directly support solar modules without the use of mounting rails. It is recommended that these clamps only be used on metal roofs that have plywood under the roof metal that provides a roof surface that doesn’t flex when walking on. Typical commercial roof construction uses purlins to support the metal roof and as you walk on these roofs they flex. Because of this roof movement if these mounting clamps are used they will pop off the modules as you walk on the roof. In cases like this solar module mounting rails need to be used to secure the solar array. The modules secure to the rails and the rails using L-feet secure directly to the S-5 clamps.
